About Me

Hello! I’m Kandy Mitchell, an independent contractor for TaxPrep Solutions. Many of you may not know the story behind my journey into self-employment, so I’d like to share a bit about my path.

It all began on October 28th, 2020, with a phone call that changed my family forever. My oldest daughter, Alexis, was involved in a devastating car accident. The doctors informed us that she might not wake from her coma, and if she did, she wouldn’t be the same.

After four long months, Alexis miraculously woke up. Although she couldn’t speak and was paralyzed from the chest down, our family was determined—she would come home, where I could care for her myself. She’s not just my daughter; she’s my best friend, and giving up was never an option.

In addition to caring for Alexis, I now raise her daughter, Aveah. Being there for both of them is my top priority, which led me to train as a tax preparer. Today, tax preparation is more than just a job for me; it’s a way to support my family and be present for my daughter and granddaughter. Every client I assist helps me continue this journey, and I am incredibly grateful for that.

I also run a business selling marketing software, but it’s through tax preparation that I’ve found stability and purpose in my work. This career allows me to be there for Alexis and ensure that Aveah grows up with her mom by her side, rather than in a facility.
